Trail Talk - 'Just Keep Going' by Erik

I’m a big believer in To Do Lists. Especially now that I’m older and my memory isn’t quite what it used to be. I find that I have to write things down or I’ll forget about them or let it slide. I’m sure I’m not alone in this.

The photo above is not one of my typical weekly lists. This is more of a list of things for me to keep in mind as I attempt to live a worthwhile life. Once again, this is not something I ever thought of doing when I was younger. It’s only when you get older and realize that time is passing that you become aware that you need to prioritize your thoughts and actions.

I won’t dwell on the contents of this list. The six points I’ve listed are important to me and may not reflect your own priorities. What really matters is that I’ve written them down. I feel that this makes it far more likely that they’ll stick with me. And if you want to get spiritual about it, I think it also makes it more likely that I will manifest them into existence.

"Written goals have a way of transforming wishes into wants; cant's into cans; dreams into plans; and plans into reality. Don't just think it - ink it!". ~ Denise Duffield-Thomas

“Just Keep Going” has been my unofficial motto for over 45 years. I remember when it first popped into my mind. I was working a dead-end job that I truly hated and wanted to move on to other things. But I couldn’t really do that at that precise moment. I needed to plow through my misery for another few months before I could return to college. So, in the meantime, I found myself quietly saying “Just Keep Going”.

To this day, I still find myself saying it when times are tough and I need to reassure myself that things will eventually get better. And things do get better, by the way. At least, in my experience they always have. Sometimes, you just need to slog through the hard patches first.

Notes on Trail Talk - 'Just Keep Going' by Erik

From Lisa: I agree with Erik about putting goals and values on paper and we have walked alongside each other through difficult times. Journeys Unlimited does not have a magic wand or a time machine to get you over those hurdles in life, yet we do have strategies for making these hurdles a little easier to navigate.

At Journeys Unlimited we will walk alongside you as you navigate your goals, hopes and dreams. Writing bridges the path from your conscious mind to your unconscious mind. We will deepen these connections by:

  • guiding you as you develop SMART goals;

  • developing personalized suggestions and imagery; and

  • providing a combination of strategies to launch you on your personal journey of success!
